Collateral damage to cognitive processes for a pediatric brain tumor patient are common due to the toxicity and invasive nature of current treatments. Unfortunately, scientific studies to better understand the impact of these treatments has historically been sparse. At the July 2nd, 2008 International Society of Pediatric Neuro-Oncologists meeting in Chicago, more than 100 families with children suffering from brain tumors gathered to ask questions directed at an interdisciplinary panel of pediatric brain tumor physicians. In this short video, Dr. Packer shares with the audience some new insights into scientific studies targeted at reversing cognitive damage to pediatric brain tumor patients.
