PLEASE VOTE FOR PROJECT BRAIN CHILD
Dear PLGA Lobbying Families-
Over a year ago, you all responded to my 'call to action' when I
described to you the need to lobby congress to include language in the
NIH's Appropriations Bill on Health, about Pediatric Low Grade
Astrocytomas. And your efforts paid off! The language WAS included in
the bill and it is now sitting on the desk of the 'powers that be' at
the NIH. (I am working on a strategy to move this off the 'desk' and
into the 'conference room'...but that is a story for another time.)
Today, I write to ask you for your support once again to RALLY and help
raise awareness about a CRITICAL project that we have submitted for
funding. Let me explain,
A few weeks ago, I applied for a grant offered by American Express
“Members Project,” that would be used to fund research for PROJECT
BRAIN CHILD,
PROJECT BRAIN CHILD will jump-start the development of a worldwide
children’s genomic brain tumor registry. This registry could help spare
children the outdated, toxic, punishing AND ineffective treatments that
they must now endure, allowing researchers to target existing ‘smart’
drugs to specific brain tumors.
American Express's innovative philanthropic program, Members Project,
allows card members to help choose (by popular vote) the 5
organizations that will receive funding. To those of you who voted for
PROJECT BRAIN CHILD a few weeks back, we owe you a huge thanks as
Project Brain Child has been selected by Amex (from over 1190 other
projects) as one of its top 25 projects, which MIGHT receive funding
(up to 1.5 million dollars).
If you didn’t vote in the first round, no worries. The war is not over yet, and we need you to help us fight the next battle.
