Geared Up for Kids 2009 raises $621,000
The PLGA Foundation's first Geared Up for Kids event took place on Sunday, May 30th, 2009 at the Wompatuck State Park in Hingham, Massachusetts with over 500 participants (bike riders, volunteers and supporters) and resulted in raising $621,000.
At 8:00 a.m., riders and volunteers began registering for one of the three bike routes, 10, 25 or 50 miles and enjoyed a light breakfast amongst friends. With staggered start times, the 50 milers (50 hearty bikers!!!) set off first, followed by the 25 milers (100 bikers!!!) and finally at 10:00 a.m. the 10 milers (350 bikers!!!). Whether riding for speed or leisure, the riders enjoyed a beautiful route through the quiet streets of Hingham, Cohasset and . Returning to the Wompatuck State Park for a fun filled afternoon of food, music and entertainment.
The PLGA Foundation is indebted to the support of it's sponsors including, Uno's Chicago Grill, Papa Ginos, Ninety Nine Restaurant, Starbucks, Panera Bread and other generous institutions.
And many thanks to our riders, volunteers and fundraisers without whom we could never have made this event such a HUGE success!
